Family Portraits

A single subject or an entire family. A commissioned family portrait is an elegant and unique addition to any home.

Pets

Life-like or stylized. Posed or at play. This is the perfect way to capture a moment in time of your precious pet to last a lifetime.

Landscapes

Do you have a favourite place that fills you with warmth and inspiration -- or is just special to you? Capture that feeling in a unique piece of art.

Your Idea or Design

A cover image for your music album. A wall mural. Your favourite building. Turn any idea or design you want into a personalized art piece.

"Commissions are all about an artist and a client working together to bring a vision to life. One of my favourite parts of the commision process is learning about the story behind your piece."

- Rachel Grove

How does getting a Commission work?

Step 1: Selecting your Image and Surface

Got the perfect idea for your commission? Great! let's chat about which surface is going to suit you best. Not quite sure about your idea yet? No worries! We can discuss different compositions and options. Generally, I work from photo references that you provide. The best photographs for commissions are clear and crisp and are unedited (i.e. without any filters). But don't worry if the only photos you have are low quality, we can still make something work!

Step 2: Mock-up and Deposit

I will send you a mock-up of your piece for your review. Once you are happy with the mock-up you will receive an invoice for a 25% deposit. Once the deposit is paid, I can start painting!

Step 3: Painting

I love to share the painting process on social media. I will ask if you are comfortable with this, and if so I will post regular updates so that you can see your piece come together!

Step 4: Drying and Varnishing

Because I work in oils pieces can take several weeks to fully cure. Once varnished your piece will be ready to ship.

Step 5: Shipping

Once the piece is finished, I will send you a photo for your review. You can let me know if you'd like any changes before I varnish the piece. Once you approve the piece, I will send you an invoice for the balance of the piece. Once the balance is paid, your piece will be packaged with lots of love and shipped to you!

The Surface

The price of a commission is based on your photo reference and the surface you would like the piece painted on.

Canvas Paper

The most affordable painting surface. Canvas paper has the benefit of being easy to frame.

Canvas Panel

A classic and affordable painting surface. A canvas panel is a backing board wrapped with a canvas sheet.

Thin Edge Wood Panel

A cost effective alternative to the thick edge wood panel. The thin edge panel is lighter and shallower, and is also read to hang with or without a frame.

Thick Edge Wood Panel

One of the most popular painting surfaces. these pieces are ready to hang with or without a frame.

Lee Jones -- Pet Portrait

I commissioned Rachel Grove to make portraits of my dogs. It was a 17/10 experience! Super open and always had
updates and availability to talk and answer questions. Took the babies personality into thought when painting the
commission and they really shine bright in the painting almost like real life! The photos of the finished product
looked increasable but when they arrived in person they looked even more perfect! Everything was super personalised
and thoughtful and it was an amazing experience!

Elia Trankolova -- Pet Portrait

I commissioned Rachel to make a portrait for my best friend's birthday. Not only was she an absolute pleasure
but she made the entire process so smooth and collaborative.
She engaged with me at every stage of the process.

Alice Osornprasoph -- Portrait commission

I would recommend Rachel to everyone for a commission! She was happy to collaborate on what picture to use
and made an effort to get to know why they were special to me. She really captured the sweetness
of both my boys, and created a piece of art that I truly treasure.

Anne Phillips -- Pet Portrait

I organised a commission with Rachel to create a portrait for my close friend's 30th. She made the whole process seamless,
with constant check ins ensuring that I was happy with every aspect of the portrait.
This artwork exceeded by every expectation, with my friend overcome with emotion upon receiving it.

Lisa Bui -- Pet Portrait

Rachel Grove is a pleasure all around! Not only is her technical skill amazing but her stylization and the delicacy by which
she handles brush strokes make every one of her pieces wonderful. Not only this, but while deciding the details of my commission,
I was very busy, and often wouldn't get back to her for days on end. Not once did she become short with me or complaint
- she was incredibly patient and, as soon as we had hammered down the framework, produced a stunning piece within the same day!
She was an absolute pleasure to work with, out of every artist I have commissioned, I treasure her piece the most.
If you commission a piece from her, you'll get nothing but the best!
